Nikon Hong Kong successfully held a press event for its Z mount system on 27 August 2018. Nikon introduced its latest full-frame FX format mirrorless cameras Nikon Z 7 and Nikon Z 6 at the launch event, as well as the standard zoom NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S, the wide-angle prime NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S, the standard prime NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S, Mount Adapter FTZ and the new FX-compatible AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR super-telephoto lens. The press event attracted a large group of media because of the briefing and demonstration, hands-on experience and model shooting of the new products.

The Z mount system is comprised of mirrorless cameras featuring a new, larger-diameter mount, as well as compatible NIKKOR lenses and accessories. This system has been realized through the pursuit of a new dimension in optical performance. It has inherited Nikon’s tradition of quality, superior imaging technology, great operability, and high reliability, all innovated from its digital SLR cameras.
The Z 7 and Z 6 are equipped with a new backside illumination full-frame, Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor with built-in focal-plane phase-detection AF pixels, and the latest image-processing engine, EXPEED 6. The Z 7 has 45.7 effective megapixels, and supports a standard sensitivity range of ISO 64–25600. In combination with NIKKOR Z lenses, the camera achieves an outstanding level of sharpness and detail, all the way to the edges of the image. The Z 6 is an all-purpose FX-format camera with an effective pixel count of 24.5 megapixels, and supports the wide range of ISO 100–51200 standard sensitivities.
NIKKOR Z lenses, including NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S, NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S, and NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S, pursue a new dimension in optical performance, by taking advantage of the superior design flexibility made possible by the combination of the larger Z mount with its inner diameter of 55 mm, and a short flange focal distance of 16 mm. The lenses offer sharp resolution with both still-image and movie recording capability, and are equipped with functions that include: compensation for focus breathing (the shifting of the angle of view when focus is adjusted), quiet operation, smooth exposure control, a control ring, and performance that are all well suited to movie recording.
Featuring Nikon’s very own Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element, the A the new AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR super-telephoto lens weighs in at a compact approximate of 1460g but delivers superior optical performance with excellent subject-acquisition qualities and effectual Vibration Reduction (VR) support. A high-performance super-telephoto lens with 500mm focal length, this new lens also enables mobile handheld shooting with its compact and light body.
The Mount Adapter FTZ has been designed to allow users of Nikon SLR cameras to utilize their existing NIKKOR F mount lenses with the Z mount system and enjoy taking advantage of an even wider variety of lens characteristics with their photography. In addition, the use of the Mount Adapter FTZ will allow the lens to be used with the mirrorless cameras Nikon Z 7 and Nikon Z 6. Users will be able to enjoy super-telephoto shooting at 500 mm focal length with a system that is even more compact than ever before.
