SERVICE ADVISORY FOR 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30MM F/3.5-5.6 LENS

As of 15 January 2021, Nikon will no longer accept 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses for this free corrective servicing.
Servicing to address this issue will be handled in accordance with standard Nikon repair policies.
On 3 February 2015, Nikon released a Service Advisory to inform customers of the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens that Nikon would provide free of charge corrective servicing for lenses exhibiting a particular issue.
This announcement is to inform that the offer for free corrective servicing will expire on 15 January 2021. Request to service this issue after 15 January 2021 will be handled in accordance with standard Nikon repair policies.
Kindly contact your nearest Nikon service centre before 15 January 2021 to have your 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens inspected and corrected.
We have recently confirmed an issue with the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens for advanced cameras with interchangeable lenses. When the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is used for an extended period of time, or zoom operations are frequently repeated, proper communication with the camera may become impossible. An error message may be displayed in the camera monitor, and the lens may fail to function properly.
Please be advised of the details of this issue and its countermeasures below. Nikon will provide free inspection and service to address this issue.

Affected product
• This issue only occurs with the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6.
• This issue does not occur with the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM.
• The image below is of the black 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6, but this issue occurs with all colour variations of the lens.
Lenses with a black dot at the bottom of the slot for the pin on the camera's lens mount have already been inspected and/or repaired by a Nikon service centre.
Service procedure
Please consult your nearest Nikon service centre. Nikon service centre will inspect the lens and replace applicable components as needed, free of charge regardless of the status of the product warranty.
