Adopts RED camera file naming conventions.
Replacing the standard DSC format, the highly anticipated ZR V1.10 firmware update introduces RED-style naming conventions, generating a unique, video-specific file name for every clip. This ensures organised and traceable footage across complex productions, especially when multiple cameras and editors are involved. RED-style file names are visible directly on the live view screen, simplifying on-set data management and making life easier for DITs during fast-paced, multi-camera shoots.
Precision Exposure.
Every Take, Every Time.
Take full control of your exposure with a clear, real-time highlight clipping warning. When recording in R3D NE 12-bit, a red warning line appears on both the waveform monitor and histogram, marking the precise white clipping reference for the selected ISO value. This visual reference allows you to identify and correct overexposure as it occurs. The result: greater confidence, faster decisions, and footage quality within your control.
Continuous video recording up to 360 minutes*.
Keep the cameras rolling without interruption. ZR firmware V1.10 now supports continuous video recording of up to 6 hours (360 minutes). Ideal for long-form shoots such as interviews, concerts, and documentaries, allowing you to capture extended takes well beyond traditional limits. Now you can stay focused on the story, instead of the clock.
* Applicable settings: [ProRes 422 HQ 10-bit (MOV)] (excluding frame rates 100p to 119.88p), [H.265 10-bit (MOV)] (excluding frame rates 100p to 239.76p), [H.265 8-bit (MOV)] (excluding frame rates 100p to 239.76p), and [H.264 8-bit (MP4)] (excluding slow-motion video). RAW recording is limited to a maximum of 125 minutes, as before.
Wired Timecode Input with Jam-Sync.
Removing the need for bluetooth setup, wired timecode input is now supported via the 3.5-mm microphone jack, with automatic continuation even after disconnection. This direct, cable-based workflow delivers faster and more reliable timecode synchronisation. Plus, jam-sync resets only when the camera is powered off, keeping you locked in while you shoot. It’s professional control, in your hands.
Maximum Creative Control.
Now supporting up to 50* LUTs displayed from the memory card, and allowing 10 files to be installed in-camera, you can choose the optimal look with ease. Combined with the ability to select R3D NE 12-bit recording even when in AUTO mode, get premium image quality and creative flexibility without leaving your camera’s default workflow.

Smarter Power Awareness.
With just a glance, an all-new Power-on Lamp Energy Saver, added to the Setup menu, lets you easily check the power state of your camera. Keep the Power-on Lamp on continuously or have it switch off automatically. It’s now simple to confirm whether your camera is on or off, even with the monitor closed, helping prevent unexpected and inconvenient battery drain.
