NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S PRIMARY FEATURES
Where portability meets versatility
Enjoy the convenience of shooting handheld with the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S, Nikon’s latest super-telephoto prime lens that enables capturing at a focal length of 600 mm, which is 100mm longer than the AF-S NIKKOR 500mm F/5.6E PF ED VR. Users can expect to capture dynamic images and videos from an extremely long distance, especially when dealing with subject matter that is inaccessible, easily spooked, or both.
The lens is also the lightest body in its class2 at approximately 1,390 g (excluding tripod collar/approx. 1,470 g including tripod collar). Measuring 278 mm in length and 115 g lighter than the AF-S NIKKOR 500mm F/5.6E PF ED VR, the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S helps to reduce fatigue during transportation and shooting – making it an ideal partner for wildlife expeditions or sports events. Users can expect excellent mobility with the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S lens; its design positions the lens’ centre of gravity closer to the body side so that users are less aware of its weight. This makes the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S ideal when panning in situations that require easy lens control and stability, such as motorsport races, as well as handheld shooting of various fast-moving subjects such as birds.
Outstanding optical performance
Whether users are capturing distant wildlife like birds or fast-moving subjects such as motorsport competitors, they can look forward to enjoying high optical performance achieved only with the S-Line super-telephoto prime lenses. The adoption of a Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element contributes to a smaller size and weight even as it provides superior rendering capabilities, enabling users to clearly express even the most delicate feathers on a bird from a distance. In addition to the use of Nano Crystal Coat to effectively reduce ghost and flare effects, the shape and location of the PF lens have been optimised to reduce ghost realising sharp and even clearer images.
With the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S, users can capture superior clarity and detailed shots of wildlife such as birds and small animals from a distance, even when using a teleconverter3.
Enjoy the creative freedom to capture sharp and clear stills and videos with a Vibration Reduction (VR) effect of up to 5.5 stops4 under NORMAL mode. Take the stress out of capturing fast-moving subjects like flying birds with AF tracking.

With the VR SPORT mode, users can enjoy stable EVF viewing when panning and tracking fast-moving subjects, enabling them to track subjects with a clear sight of vision when doing continuous burst high-speed shooting. With the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S, users can capture wildlife in a quiet forest with confidence. Shoot videos without worrying about disruption from unnecessary operational sounds, thanks to the smooth and quiet operation of the lens’ STM and ‘click-less’ control ring. When paired with a compatible body, Synchro VR can be activated, achieving a more powerful 6.0-stops5 vibration reduction when used in combination with the camera’s on-board VR function.

Exceptional operability and reliability
Sudden weather changes while shooting outdoors can disrupt users’ focus. The lens’ fluorine coat for superior anti-fouling performance effectively repels dust or dirt for easy removal and enables users to concentrate even during unpredictable weather changes. Users can also enjoy a more stable and natural hold of the lens with the help of non-slip rubber applied to high-touch areas.
Capturing the right moments from a distance requires great focus and concentration. Users can rely on the four LFn2 buttons and one L-Fn button to assign their favourite functions and quickly switch to their most-preferred settings without having to toggle the camera menu as they track their subjects.
In addition, the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S features an excellent dust-and-drip-resistant performance6 with a sealing on various portions including movable parts of the lens barrel, and adoption of a rubber gasket on the lens mount, that effectively prevents dust or water droplets from entering the lens.
Designed for superior video recording
With the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S, users can achieve smooth, stable aperture that delivers natural changes in brightness. Furthermore, users can record videos smoothly and with minimal operation noise with the adoption of a click-less control ring and a design that considers for less focus breathing.
