1. Key Features
Draw viewers’ attention to your subject by creating a blurred background. Capture a dark scene with its ambiance intact within beautiful, clean pictures. The NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8’s maximum aperture at f/2.8 realizes a broad spectrum of unique photographic expressions. Utilizing the shallow depth of field at f/2.8, you can effectively emphasize your subject against large background bokeh. Dark scenes can be rendered more clearly with minimum image noise as the fast maximum aperture lets you employ faster shutter speeds without having to increase the ISO. With the aperture remaining at f/2.8 throughout the zoom range you can take advantage of it at any focal length between 28-75mm, opening up a range of fresh creative possibilities.
This 28-75mm lens with f/2.8 fixed aperture not only helps you capture a diversity of scenes but can also accompany you wherever you venture. The NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8 body weighs approx. only 565 g, which is 240 g lighter than the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S. What’s more, the wide-angle end at 28mm reduces the maximum diameter to 75 mm. This lens will fit in your bag much more easily, tempting you to take it everywhere.
At the maximum f/2.8, the NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8 creates a gentle picture with sharpness, then increases definition as you stop down the aperture, gradually transforming it into a sharp image. Combined with the stable resolution throughout the zoom range, this lets you enjoy a diverse range of expressions: from gentle portraits recreating the soft texture of human skin to unique snapshots using the large bokeh of f/2.8 and sharply depicted landscapes.
Covering from wide-angle 28mm to mid-telephoto 75mm, the zoom range is exceptionally convenient. It is perfect for capturing landscapes, portraits and everything in between, making it ideal for daily snapshots and travel photos.
With the NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8, you can get boldly close to your subject and still attain accurate focus. The minimum focus distance is 0.19 m*. This is very helpful when you want to capture a subject dynamically or with tabletop photos, for example, when increasing the working distance is impossible.
*At 28mm zoom position.
Employing a stepping motor (STM) with superior response, the NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8 quickly focuses on moving subjects whether shooting stills or video. The extremely quiet STM has greatly reduced the lens drive and operational sounds during focusing and video recording. This makes it possible to capture quiet scenes in situations such as theater performances.
Just as with still photography, the NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8’s great performance is also highly effective for video recording. While delivering the sharp depiction suitable for 4K UHD video, the lightweight body is appropriate for gimbal use. The minimized lens drive and operational sounds of the quiet STM prevent their being recorded. Smooth rotation of the control ring enables you to extremely slowly and gradually change the focus and aperture. The brightness changes very slowly thus producing minimal flicker. Lens focus breathing is suppressed so that the angle of view remains unchanged as focus points move.
With the control ring, you can focus manually or change ISO sensitivity, aperture and exposure compensation in stills and video. The smooth rotation enables precise focus control. The knurling employed improves operation and helps users distinguish it from the zoom ring.
The NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8 adopts a sleek satin finish, while featuring the NIKKOR logo placed on the top. Employing different textures for the zoom and control rings helps distinguish the two, while control elements are positioned with enough separation to prevent accidental mis-operation.
The lens is sealed to prevent dust and water droplets* from entering the lens, enabling use in everyday circumstances without worries. It features effective antifouling coating, allowing easy cleaning.
*Thorough dust- and drip-resistance is not guaranteed in all situations or under all conditions.
The NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8’s diaphragm unit has its own driving mechanism that receives electronic signals from the camera. This enables more precise aperture control and consistently stable exposure control, even during continuous shooting. Smoother aperture control effectively prevents flickering.
